Family is everything!

Family photo day is not the time for discipline. Or trying to make kids “be good”. Or making sure every hair is perfectly in place. This is the time for belly laughs, cuddles & letting go of expectations. Wiping tears, smelling flowers, dancing in the rain. Just consider it “family time” and allow me to turn it into art.

Pretend everything your kids do during our time together is the cutest thing ever. Allow them to be a little naughty and get a little wild. That’s when kids are the happiest, so let them do all the happy things. You’ll get the best photos that way and maybe they’ll even wear themselves out and you’ll get lucky enough to get a real good nights sleep too, hah! Scolding & threatening your kids will definitely not produce happy kids. Unless it’s a safety issue, let the little things go and just be in the moment with your family. And don’t be afraid to get a little dirty. No expectations, just real life. Let me do all the hard work. If you are a family with older children, or if you’re scheduling an extended family session, your family photos will of course be a little more laid back. But if you have young children, be prepared to document their care free energy. You will miss it!

Choose outfits that allow you all to move freely. Something that’s comfortable and maybe even casual if you’re just not into flowy dresses and hair bows. You will be having lots of fun during your session, so if you think your outfit or shoes might hold you back, choose something else. And I’m here to help you with wardrobe choices, so don’t fret! I can photograph your family outdoors or in the comfort of your own home. My natural light lifestyle studio is also available for smaller families.
