What is a wedding day or “day of” content creator?

Content creation is very different from photography or videography. It focuses on creating short form videos (think tiktok’s & facebook or Instagram reels) and capturing behind the scenes raw footage of your wedding day or the day’s event (birthday parties, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, etc.). This footage is NOT taken on a DSLR professional camera that we use for our photography needs. Instead, we use an iPhone 15 pro Max (we have 2 of them), which are ONLY used for content creation. These are completely separate from our personal phones. We can not receive calls or texts on them. They are solely used for recording videos.

Content creation can be a great addition to videography OR, in some cases, is a better fit for clients on a tight budget and it can replace their need for videography all together. A videographer usually creates one 3-5 minute highlight video of your day. This is great to sit down and watch once a year on your anniversary. With content creation, we create with social media in mind. This means creating shorter 60-90 second highlight videos or less (again, like tiktok’s & reels). These are videos that you will find yourself re-watching much more frequently than your longer videography content, and is something your guests will be able to enjoy too. It allows you to share your wedding day with the world, in a really fun way.

Another major difference with content creation vs. photography & videography, is the turn around time. I deliver all the content to my clients within 24-48 hours, whereas it inevitably takes weeks for photo galleries and longer videos to be completed and delivered. So this is content that you get to enjoy almost immediately and can start re-living your wedding day or special occasion right away. All of the raw video clips that I take are delivered to you, via an online file delivery service called WeTransfer. You can then use these to create your own videos, tikoks & reels if you wish. Or you can just have them as a fun way to reminisce on your own and enjoy all the fun behind the scenes things that you probably didn’t even notice going on around you throughout the day. This usually provides you with A LOT more video content and behind the scenes captured moments than your typical videography services provide. And if you are someone that creative, it gives you full creative freedom with your content, which you do not have with your professional photos and videos. With this delivered raw footage, I will personally create for you 1-3 highlight reels of your day and 1or 2 pre-planned trending tiktok’s if desired. Anything I create and share on my social media pages is free for you to share on your own platforms and enjoy. When it comes to creating reels and tiktok’s, the options are truly endless with all the content you will receive.

Consider me your personal paparazzi for the day. As a 10 year professional wedding photographer, I am well conditioned to and have an eye for capturing the sweetest moments and smallest details. I think that is certainly a big bonus to choosing me as your content creator. If you choose to hire me as your wedding photographer, content creation is FREE to all of my bride & grooms. If you have already hired another photographer, another perk to booking me as your content creator is that if your photographer falls ill or has an emergency that prevents them from being there on your wedding day, I can easily swoop in, fill their shoes and save the day!

Content creation is certainly not a necessary investment for everyone. But if you desire raw video footage of all the special moments surrounding your day, I think it’s something you will love and never regret. You may think “I can just have a bridesmaid or a family member do that”. Which, you COULD. But …. wouldn’t you rather them be present on your wedding day or during your special event? Don’t you want them to enjoy the day with you and be IN your videos, rather than being stuck behind their phone stressing over capturing video footage? Not only that, but do they have an eye for capturing the small and special moments? Do they have the skill set? Is their phone going to die half way through the day? Are they going to run out of storage space on their phone? Do they have a backup phone if theirs takes a tumble or accidentally gets dropped in the lake? There are SO many things that come into play when it comes to being a dedicated content creator. This goes for photography and videography too. Backup equipment is always a must, amongst other things you’d probably never think of. I am prepared with power banks, extra chargers, gimbals for still video footage, cell phones dedicated solely to creating video content with one full terabyte of storage. Backup equipment. And I have liability and equipment insurance. I’ve been a wedding professional for 10 years and I know what I need to do and where I need to be to get the job done right. Live in the moment with all of your closet family and friends and allow ME to document your day.

As mentioned, this service is also great for birthday parties, baby showers, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, even your wedding dress shopping trip and more!

FAQ’s

Do you work solo?

I do content creation solo AND with a second shooter. This depends on your wants, needs & budget. Two content creators are always better than one. It is preferable to have two of us on a wedding day. For any other special event, I am usually more than capable of handling that on my own.

Who records the behind the scenes content while you are photographing a wedding day?

My husband and I (or another trusted second shooter) photograph wedding days together. I do all of the main shooting, while they take extra shots during moments like: first looks, ceremony & reception, from different perspectives than my own. While we do this, we can utilize phone mounts attached to the top of our cameras to record video clips while we take photos. This only works though, if we do not need a flash attached to the top of our camera. When my second shooter is not physically taking photos, they are assisting me with various other duties (like setting up detail shots) and being the main person to record as much content as they can. The content is always better when we can have our phones on a gimbal in our hands. When we cannot have our content phones attached to our cameras or a gimbal , we do have a tripod that we can put to use. This is of course far less ideal and does not create the same type of video content. If you would like to prioritize content creation as much as possible, there would be two options for you.

ONE: My second shooter could focus on content creation rather than taking extra photos. I’ve been doing this long enough that I feel confident in being able to document what is needed on my own. It is always fun to have more photos from different perspectives and angles of certain moments of the day, but some clients are happier with me capturing all the basic necessary photos while my second shooter captures content instead. It’s kind of the best of both worlds.

TWO: If you would like my second shooter to remain focused on taking additional photos during those more important moments, I can have a third person tag along with us to strictly focus on content creation for the day. This option would of course be an additional charge.
